Cube Frame Types Explained

23rd January 2019

What's the difference between a Cube Men's frame, a Trapeze and an Easy Entry? Take a look below to find out the basics, as we explain the differences between Cube's frame types.

Cube Men's Frame

This standard frame shape is labelled a men's frame by Cube, and is the more traditional 'double triangle' frame shape. While considered to be the men's frame, the geometry is suitable for cyclist of either gender.

The geometry of the Men's frame is generally the most forward-leaning of the three, without being uncomfortable or aggressive.

With Cube's product codes, this is usually completely numerical, denoted by a six-digit product code followed by the frame size, for example, the Cube Touring Hybrid One 400, in size 46cm has product code 23105046.

Cube Trapeze Frame

The Trapeze frame shape is similar to the Men's frame but features a lower top tube in order to make it slightly easier to mount, without losing the traditional frame design. Traditionally considered a women's frame shape, however, the geometry is suitable for cyclists of either gender.

The geometry of the Trapeze frame is generally higher at the front, putting the rider into a more upright position, taking some of the rider's weight away from the hands.

With Cube's product codes, the six-digit part number and the two-digit frame size will be punctuated by the letter 'T', for example, the Cube Touring Hybrid One 400, in size 46cm has product code 231050T46. Occasionally the Trapeze frames are also abbreviated to 'Z'.

Cube Easy Entry Frame

As the name suggests, the Easy Entry frame shape comes with the lowest entry point, meaning there's little effort required to mount or dismount the bike, there's no need to 'swing your leg over', as you can simply step through the frame.

The Easy Entry frame is the most upright of Cube's frame types, often described as a 'sit up and beg' position, and is considered the most comfortable position for leisure cycling.

With Cube's product codes, the six-digit part number and the two-digit frame size will be punctuated by the letters 'EE', for example, the Cube Touring Hybrid One 400, in size 46cm has product code 231050EE46. Occasionally the Trapeze frames are also abbreviated to 'E'.
