A well-established favourite in the CUBE line-up, our Stereo 120 EXC is your ticket to affordable trail riding fun. With enough travel on tap to make taming even the toughest of trails a pleasure, our designers have carefully selected a blend of reliable components so that you can concentrate on the ride. Easily adjustable Manitou air shocks take care of rock-swallowing duties at both ends, while Shimano's 2x10 speed Deore and XT transmission components give a superb gear range and easy, precise shifting. We even specced light, tough Answer Atac wheels with super-grippy Schwalbe tyres. It's a package that's guaranteed to leave you smiling, ride after ride.

At CUBE we don't cut corners - it's just not the way we do things. But we do cut weight, wherever we can - because it improves the ride quality of our bikes. That's why the Stereo 120 EXC features triple butted, hydroformed aluminium tubes and an intelligent design that puts extra material where it's needed and takes it away where it isn't. This doesn't just save precious grammes; it also improves steering precision and pedalling efficiency. And the whole lot is designed around our Efficient Trail Control kinematics and the stable, lively handling of our Agile Trail Geometry. It's the complete trail-taming package - and with our Size Split setup, you're sure to find exactly the right size for your needs.

Adaptable X12 Hanger

We optimized our new dropout design based on the Syntace X12 through-axle system, enlarging the area of the frame where the hanger is mounted. We can now fit the longer Direct Mount hangers. Shifting precision and stiffness is therefore improved. With the new design, it's also possible to swap the whole contact area of the axle with the hanger should the system be worn out.

Advanced Mechanical Forming

With our Advanced Mechanical Forming technology, we can mechanically transform different frame tubes and thus optimize them without material-wearing welding work for the respective requirements. Along the obtained organic look, the production method is primarily motivated by functional reasons. Multiple converted tubes enable us to manufacture lighter and also stiffer aluminium frames.

Agile Trail Geometry

The Agile Trail Geometry carries over the Agile Ride Geometry’s benefits but with more focus on aggressive trail use. This can be achieved through a more compact frame construction with an even lower top tube and improved standover height. The result is more freedom of movement on the bike for the rider and a lower centre of gravity which guarantees agile handling and more riding fun.

Aluminium Ultralite

Very high tensile strength heat-treated 7005 aluminium alloy is developed for the highest requirements. It is very stiff, fatigue resistant, corrosion resistant and has high elongation. Our Superlite tubes are triple butted, giving very light tubesets with a high level of stiffness.

Efficient Trail Control

Our Efficient Trail Control series works so that everyone can have more fun on the trail. With 27.5 and 29er wheel options, our frames cover the widest range of riding on every terrain you can imagine. The low leverage ratio and linear rate curve makes the bike very sensitive, avoids bobbing and offers full usable travel all the time. Steep seat tube angles and slack head tube angles make these dream machines ready for action on the descent where you can use the full amount of travel to be on the safe side.

FSP4Link

The key requirement is for continuously active and fully usable travel, with the rear triangle unaffected by pedalling or especially braking forces. There are a number of ways of achieving this – CUBE favours a four bar design with a chainstay pivot. Here, one of the pivots is located between the dropout and the chainstay, ensuring that braking does not have a negative effect on the movement of the rear wheel. By carefully positioning the remaining pivots, we obtain the finest riding qualities for our full suspension bikes both uphill and downhill. This fact is proven by many top test results in leading magazines over the last few years.

High-Performance Aluminium

For our high-end bikes, we use High Performance 7005 Aluminium alloy which has a very low density combined with high strength due to the alloy elements and the hardening heat treatment. By triple butting or even quadruple butting (as in the REACTION, HANZZ and AERIUM models) to give different wall thicknesses in one tube, aluminium tubes are reinforced where required and made lighter where possible. In this way, we succeed in getting material where its needed most. In addition, we use special tube shapes, manufactured with hydroforming technology to better cope with directional forces. The low density and high strength, as well as the butting and the hydroforming technology, enable us to make high-performance frames with an ultimate level of stiffness.

Tapered Steerer

This steerer tube design is stiffer than a conventional straight steerer and yields a more secure ride feel even in difficult terrain. Minimal flex at the front of the frame means the greatest possible steering precision. With the larger steerer, the forks become more rigid. At the same time weight is saved due to the absence of bearing shells as the lower bearing is fully integrated into the head tube. On all of our CUBE carbon models, the upper bearing shells are also directly in the frame, so that once more a few grams are saved and the energy transfer is very direct.

Integrated Cable Routing

Internally routed cables offer many advantages. Cables are protected from dirt for longer life, weight is saved thanks to the absence of external housing and the bike has a clean, sleek appearance.

Integrated Post Mount

The post mount rear brake system is found on all carbon fibre frames and top aluminium full suspension models. Two bolts and the IS adapter aren’t needed anymore, and fewer parts means less weight. In this case, we save 30 grams. This may not sound a lot. But there's potential to save weight in every detail.

Press Fit BB

With Press Fit bearings, the bottom bracket bearings are pressed directly into the frame and not screwed in as usual. This gives a wider bottom bracket shell and allows us to build a wider down tube and more broadly-spaced chainstays. Every millimetre of additional width gives a significant improvement in lateral stiffness.

Stealth Ready

Dropper seat posts are getting more and more widespread, but to integrate them optimally in the frame, they have to be factory fitted. With the Stealth Ready frames, it is possible to build in a dropper seat post with internally routed cables, which besides the clean look, helps prevent any cables getting jammed. The exit of the cable on the frame – if not required – will be sealed with a cover for protection.

Trail Motion Rocker

The Trail Motion Rocker features optimized leverage ratios for every bike and intended use, giving fast reacting yet stable suspension in every situation. The computer-designed one-piece rocker construction gives maximum stiffness for the best suspension performance while still being extremely lightweight.

Wet Paint Surface

On polished, brushed aluminium and all HPC frames, the logos and graphics are applied in multi-layer wet paint. We use this surface treatment technology mainly to save weight.

X12 Through Axle

In this system, a cone is used to form a play-free connection. It is only necessary to tighten the axle from one side. The position of the wheel is done by an insert in the right-hand dropout which is secured by a bolt. The main advantages of the Syntace system are quick and simple changing of the wheel, reliable position of the brake disc and higher stiffness of the rear of the bike. This allows the assembly to be made lighter than a conventional through-axle.

How do I determine the correct frame size?

      1. Measure your inside leg:

The step length is the length of the inside of the leg. The best and most accurate measure of your stride length is by using a spirit level and a tape measure. If you have no spirit level to hand a book or similar works as well. Now, position yourself barefoot (!) on a flat surface and clamp the level (or the book) as level as possible between the legs and pull it upwards until it becomes gradually unpleasant. Now measure the distance from the top of the level to the ground. The reading corresponds to your stride length.
      2. Determine the right frame size:

        • For a Road bike: Multiply your inside leg by a factor of 0.665. The value that you get is the theoretical frame height in cm. For a Triathlon bike subduct 3cm of your value.
        • For a Mountain bike: Multiply your inside leg by a factor of 0.226. The value that you get is the theoretical frame height in inches. Multiplied by 2.54, you get the frame height in cm.
        • For trekking bikes: Multiply your inside leg by a factor of 0.66. The value that you get is the theoretical frame height in centimeters. Multiply by 0.259 to get the frame height in inches. With suspension seat posts deduct about 5 cm (or 2 inches) from the theoretical size. If your value is between two offered heights, apply the following rule of thumb: Choose the smaller frame size for sporty driving style. A larger frame results in a more comfortable seating position.
      3. Determine the framesize by your body size:

Alternatively you can determine your framesize also about your body size. However, the method of the step length is more accurate.
