      Items showing as 'In Stock' are available for immediate dispatch from The Bike Shed Head Office in Crediton. 

      Items showing as 'In Stock (2 - 5 Days)' are in stock, but are stored at a warehouse or another of our shops. It can take us 2 - 5 days to get the stock back to head office before it can be dispatched. Any order that doesn't make it back to head office by the next working day is upgraded to 1st class delivery free of charge.

       

      Delivery to Northern Ireland, Highlands & Islands is available: Items that can be sent via Royal Mail will be charged at the standard rate, larger items may vary. Please contact us for a quote. 

      Delivery outside of the United Kingdom is available on request. Please contact us for a quote.

      Bike Delivery

      All bikes are delivered via Parcel Force 48 (2 day Service) and can only be delivered on a week day (Monday - Friday) between 8:30am - 5:30pm. Unfortunately we are unable to advise a specific time window (e.g Morning or Afternoon delivery) however tracking information will be provided. 

      Our bikes are prepared 'Ready to Ride' with the exception of fitting the pedals and straightening the handlebars - instructions will be included. We dispatch our bikes in full size bike boxes so everything including the gears are setup prior for minimum effort. 

      Designated Day: Once you have made your purchase, we will contact you to arrange a convienant delivery date. Please note - Bikes purchased using finance must be delivered to the address on the finance application. 

      For orders to the Isle of Wight, Isle of Man, Northern Ireland & Scottish Highlands please contact us to confirm we can arrange delivery.

      Trek, Brompton & current year Whyte bikes can be purchased online, but must be collected in-store. This is to ensure the customer receives a personal level of service and that their new bike is built and fitted correctly for maximum enjoyment.

      For orders placed before 3pm and shipped via Royal Mail, we advise a delivery time between 2 - 3 working days.

      All orders sent via Express Delivery require a signature upon delivery. If you're not home, a card will be left and you'll need to rearrange delivery with your local Parcelforce depot.

      If choosing collect in-store, please ensure a telephone number is provided and make a note of your preferred collection location in the 'Add Comments About Your Order' section, in 'Step 4' when placing your order. This will help to speed up the fulfillment process. We will then contact you once your order is in store ready for collection.

      We are happy to offer a 60 day returns policy for any item purchased from The Bike Shed website. All we ask is that the item(s) are returned unused and in the original packaging.

      Unless we have incorrectly fulfilled an order, or your item(s) were damaged during transit, we will not refund any associated delivery charges or cover any delivery costs when posting the item(s) back to us. However item(s) can be returned to any Bike Shed store free of charge.

      When your refund is processed, the funds will be returned to the original payment method. This may take up to 10 working days to appear as cleared funds.

       

      Free delivery is offered when spending over £749 on bikes, and £35 on everything else. 

      SIZING GUIDE

      It is important to choose the right size bike as a correctly fitting cycle will be more comfortable to ride and enable you to ride faster, further and in more control.  The best way to choose the most appropriate size for yourself and, your intended riding style will ALWAYS be to visit your local dealer and sit on/test a few different bikes.  This is without doubt a more accurate guide to sizing than any guidance you will find online.

       

      However, if this is impractical for you, you can use the following advice to find an appropriate frame size – just bear in mind that personal preference can play a large part in selecting a frame size and so, this information is not guaranteed to be correct for everyone…

      Firstly, you must measure your inside leg measurement.  To find this out correctly it is best to use the following method:

      Stand upright with your back to a wall and with your shoes off and legs together.

      Take a pencil and mark the wall at crotch level and measure the distance to the floor.

      You can now use this measurement as a guide to which size bike you would like depending on the style of riding (touring, sportif etc). If your measurement falls between two sizes try to bear in mind your overall height. If your legs are long for your height you should perhaps err towards the smaller frame size. If your legs are short for your overall height then maybe the larger frame size would be better for you.

      Frame with a horizontal top tube

      If you are purchasing a bike with a horizontal top tube then use the following formula:

      Inside leg measurement (cm) x 0.69

      The result of this sum will give you the frame size you require. If you fall between sizes we advise you go for the smaller size.

       

      Frame with a sloping top tube

      If you are purchasing a bike with a sloping top tube then use the following formula:

      Inside leg measurement (cm) x 0.64

      The result of this sum will give you the frame size you require. If you fall between sizes we advise you go for the smaller size.
      If you are unsure please ask your local Dawes dealer who will be able to correctly size you for your bike.

      Our adult bikes are measured by their frame size. This is the length of the seat tube measured from the centre of the bolt which fastens the chainwheel to the top of the seat tube.

      Once you have your bike you can make other small adjustments to aid your comfort. The saddle height can be adjusted along with its fore and aft position as can the height of the handlebar stem. The position of the brake levers around the handlebar can also be tailored to suit your personal riding style.

      Your Dawes dealer will help you with this and details can also be found in your user manual.

      The cycle to work scheme is a government initiative which allows employees to hire bicycles tax free from their employers using salary sacrifice. As the payments into the scheme are made before tax and national insurance are calculated this leads to potential savings of up to 42%

      If your employer is a member of a cycle to work scheme (Cyclescheme, Bike2Work etc) all you need to do is visit one of our stores, or contact us to ask us for a quotation. Quotes can be provided for bicycles and bicycle accessories only. Once we have issued you a quotation, simply forward it to your employer for approval. Once you have been approved, you'll soon receive a certificate which can be redeemed for your new bike. The process usually takes between 2 - 3 weeks

      Cyclescheme is available for mail order however a delivery charge of £29 will apply. This charge cannot be include in your quotation and must be paid for prior delivery. 

      Please note: Unless your employer has a consumer credit licence the maximum spend limit for a bicycle & accessories is £1000. You can purchase bikes over £1000 and pay the difference, however legal ownership of the bike will remain the employers regardless of how much extra has been paid.
