I started cycling BMX, whilst living in London aged 6 and I bought my first Giant road bike at the age of 14. I then joined my first cycling club and completed my first time trial (10 mile) and achieved 32:40 and one week later achieved a 30:42! current best 22.04
At the age of 15 I rode my first Dartmoor Devil (Audax) and have since completed six more. From there I rode and raced until the age of 18. After a short break I came back to cycle racing then completed time trials up to 100 miles and successfully race to my 2nd category road racing licence. I started my career in the cycle industry in 1996 and on and off I have been in the trade ever since. I have worked for The Bike Shed in total for over 5 years. I had a two year stint at Condor Cycles in London and 18 months working with an importer/ distributor of cycling products. I feel very lucky to work with one of the best teams of people I have had the good fortune to be with during my working life.
I consider myself to be an all round cyclist as I embrace everything cycling from downhill mountain biking, BMX to Race and Time Trial. I am only too happy to share the knowledge I have gained in my cycling career.
What equipment?
I ride a 2009 Trek Madone 5.5 Sram force 10 speed equipped, hand built wheels with tied and soldered spokes on the rear, giving extra strength, drive and reliability.
I also ride a Trek Fuel EX8 and a Demo 7 Specialized mountain bike.
I highly recommend Specialized shoes, Gore Clothing and Assoss Chamois cream as I have tried and tested all these products with great satisfaction.
Through constantly researching products I try to recommend the best products for our customer requirements.
I have developed a keen passion for food and cooking, also enjoying the finer things in life like socializing with family and friends. Fishing is also a great way for me to relax.
I have a keen interest in the renovation of our house; taking on many of the building works and the development of our beautiful garden. Home grown vegetables have been the fruits of our labour during the summer.
Every Friday, in addition to my colleagues support, I manage the Woodbury ride outs and take great pleasure in helping both colleagues and customers develop their riding skills to their full potential. Cycling is a passion which I continue to enjoy in my own time too.
