"Carly is hard core DH supremo" - Luke, Ex Bike Shed Manager. Yes, I am into riding, not just doing it, but talking about it too. I work at the shop mainly on a part time basis as I study psychology at Exeter University. I am also vice president of the Exeter University Bike Club.

I try and race every year at the National Student Championship, as well as the usual weekly rides. I started my riding life as a downhiller, and then bought a road bike for fitness. I now mainly ride Cross Country (XC) as a nice middle ground. I also try and go on a riding holiday once a year, previous destintations include two weeks downhilling in the Alps and a weeks XC in Scotland.

What equipment?

My downhill bike had many upgrades, such as Shimano Saint cranks, Domain forks and Hope Pro 2 hubs on Syncros rims. The best change I have had was moving to Shimano Saint brakes, and I recommend them for any serious downhiller. My road bike has no modifications, I have a ladies Trek 1.5 and I love it! The latest bike I have is a Specialized Safire, this full suspension suits me better than my old Trek Remedy as the top tube length is shorter (amongst other things!). It's perfectly designed lady's bike from Specialized for any ladies struggling to find a comfortable men's bike.
