Keith's Whyte E120 review
Thursday, 29 January 2009
Staff rider and mountain bike guru keith has been lucky enough to spend some time riding the Whyte E120 carbon full suspension bike and this is an overview of his experiance.
When I first saw the Whyte E120 I approached it with somt trepidation, I was of the opinion that it was a race machine suited to xc racing and endro events, not the sort of bike I usually ride.
My first trip out was on my home ground of Woodbury common. The Whyte instantly changed my mind as I was able to ride faster and harder than I can on many bikes that carry a lot more travel. The whyte E120 is possibly the fastest full suspension bike I have ever ridden.
The Whyte is not just fast uphill and on the flat where i expected it to be, but when the going got rough on decents it tracked so smoothly and confidently that I thought I was riding a downhill bike. I was able to launch the bike in the air with confidence and control, on landing the bike felt securly planted a feature I have found lacking in most other short travel bikes I have ridden.
In summary if you want me to reccommend a great short travel lightweigh tough bike that can handle aggresive trail centre riding one week and race the next there is nothing to compare to the Whyte E120. If budget is an issue the the Marin Mount Vision line up is designed on the same platform.
