Bill
I grew up in the New Forest where my Grandad owned ‘Baileys Bikes' of Ringwood. I came to Exeter University to study product design and my first job was with Hotta Design in Totnes building carbon bikes for Chris Boardman, Graeme Obree and Yvonne McGregor. I then started competing in road time trials.
After a spell working in motor sport and yacht building I returned to Exeter to work for Mud Dock selling Trek and other brands. The opportunity to travel arose and I spend a year in Australia working for three months as a cycle courier in Sydney. On returning to Devon I started working for The Bike Shed in Spring 2006 and I continue to enjoy riding in all forms.
I love spending time with my two young children in the great outdoors or on the coastal walks around Teignmouth. We enjoy swimming as a family, camping and rides that end in a pub
What equipment?
I am the very proud owner of a Santa Cruz Blut LT which is great fun! The Hone chainset and Rock Shox forks have been very reliable in all weathers.
Specialized saddles are a favourite, all three of my bikes benefit from them. I also rate specialized shoes and Gore shorts. My Gore phantom jacket seems to get used all year! Fenwicks FS1 keeps my bikes looking great and I do recommend Conti Gator skins made for puncture free riding, which I use on my road bike
